HOME Teens are going snowshoeing!

This event is limited to teen members (6th to 12th graders) and their parents who like taking treks in the snow.  If you want to just drive and hang out while your teens go treking, you do not need to sign up. Just the snow shoer's need to be registered.

On February 25th, we will meet at the Stevens Pass Nordic Center Parking lot at 10:30am. We will head out at 11am. Do not be late.

This winter walk is led by park rangers from the Skykomish Ranger District of the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.  Guided snowshoe walks at Stevens Pass, located east of Skykomish on U.S. Highway 2, will offer us a chance to experience winter’s beauty while learning about snowshoeing, winter ecology, and the history of the area. .

Snow shoes are provided.  If you have them, I recommend bringing ski poles.  It will make it easier.

The cost is $10.00 per person. Please bring a thermos with warm beverages, a water bottle and a sack lunch.  Please check who is coming to arrange your own transportation.  Parking is limited.  Directions and a map will be email to you after you register, but before the day of the event :>

In the event of poor snow conditions, the guide reserves the right to change the trip destination. Participants are responsible to dress appropriately for the weather. Layered clothing and clothes that insulate the body when wet are encouraged. Hats, gloves, and sturdy, waterproof boots (to wear in snowshoes) are a must.

For this outing, fleece and wool are your best bet, cotton as an outer layer is not your friend, but an invitation to hypothermia.
